Preserving a historic adobe structure while expanding it into a modern cultural destination required thoughtful engineering at every stage.
Jones & DeMille Engineering provided structural project management, design, and construction engineering for the renovation and expansion of the facility, including a new cultural events center and museum addition.
The project combined extensive upgrades to the original adobe walls and roof truss system with new specialty seismic and wind-resisting structural systems, including steel moment frames, reinforced concrete shear walls, and deep foundations.
The result preserved the character of the historic building while creating a stronger, more functional space for the community to gather and celebrate its history.
