Jones & DeMille Engineering partnered with The Nature Conservancy and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources to design a fish rearing system at Matheson Wetlands Preserve near Moab.
The project supports recovery of the endangered razorback sucker by allowing larvae to enter protected wetland ponds while preventing access by non-native predators.
Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling guided system design and floodplain evaluation. Jones & DeMille Engineering also led environmental permitting, regulatory coordination, bidding, and construction management.
The system improves habitat conditions while supporting broader watershed management goals for the region.
